Coffee Ganoderma Lucidum

Coffee ; Ganoderma lucidum reishi Ling Zhi Reishi was rarely found in Asia as little as a quarter century ago. It grew in the wild, but was extremely hard to cultivate. Now with an increased knowledge of the environment it thrives in, botanists are able to set up artificial growth conditions with the correct amounts of oxygen and moisture for the spores to grow into the Reishi mushroom.

Red Reishi Mushroom / Ganoderma lucidum / Ling Zhi: 'Red Reishi Mushroom / Gano-coffee

General Information:

There are several different colors of Reishi mushrooms, "Red Reishi" is the one that is most well known and used. For over 4000 years, Red Reishi mushrooms have been most revered in traditional Chinese medicine with a status equaling ginseng as a premier substance for the attainment of radiant health, longevity, and spiritual attainment.

Traditionally, Reishi has been used as the anti-aging herb to treat many diseases and disorders. Daoist traditionalists rever this mushroom as the elixir of immortality, claiming it promotes calmness, centeredness, balance, and inner awareness and strength.

Reishi contains sterols, coumarin, mannitol, polysaccharides, and triterpenoids called ganoderic acids. It is thought that ganoderic acid lowers blood pressure, LDL (low density lipoprotein cholesterol), and triglyceride levels. These triterpenoids also play an important role in lowering the risk of coronary artery disease
and fights tumors.

Quite a few research studies on ganoderma extracts have been done at universities in Japan, China, and South Korea. Many of these are test-tube or animal studies. The results are not clear-cut, but they seem to indicate that at least in these non-human systems, ganoderma has an effect on the immune system, some anti-tumor properties, and some anti-viral activity. Ganoderma is also used in treating conditions of the nervous system. It is used to calm the nerves, cure insomnia, reduce stress, eliminate nervous exhaustion, and increase determination and focus. Laboratory studies show fairly conclusively that ganoderma does act as a sedative on cells of the central nervous system and possibly has painkilling and anti-convulsive properties. Ganoderma is frequently used to treat allergies, hay fever, bronchial asthma, and to reduce skin inflammation. Laboratory studies support these uses and show that some components of ganoderma have a strong antihistamine effect that interrupts the development of allergic reactions.
